What is PPWR?

PPWR is the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. It introduces rules for packaging design, recyclability, labelling, recycled content, reuse and packaging waste prevention.

PPWR entered into force on 11 February 2025 and will generally apply from 12 August 2026.

Yes. Foreign companies selling packaged products in the EU may need to comply with PPWR and local EPR obligations in the countries where their products are placed on the market.
